Frankenstein Book Cover

,

This is an alternate book cover I designed for the novel Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley.

The iconic image of the Creature being green-skinned and covered in stitches is actually an invention of the 1931 Boris Karloff movie, so I wanted the face on the cover to resemble the book’s actual description a bit more: black lips, yellowish skin, long dark hair, freaky eyes. Victor specifically crafted the Creature to be as physically perfect as possible, and he only saw a problem after the Creature opened its eyes and started moving around, meaning the horror of its appearance is more due to the Uncanny Valley factor than simply ugliness.
